Glitz & Glitter, Shiny & Sparkles- Winter 2013

Ok gals,

These are the final days of December before Christmas and before the brand new year of 2014. it has been a wonderful year as I have been behind the scenes working to get on another level of this blog. I truly enjoy sharing new fashion info with you!

As I wrap up 2013, I've had fun with a few fashion trends such as the tribal patterns, being Bold with Gold, skater skirts and envelope clutches. I have become particularly fond of this specific trend which I call the HIGHLIGHTER..ULTRA BRITE florescent/ neon green , yellow and pin...which I have attained either garments or shoes in such colours. Granted it i bright bu it's a pretty bright I fell in love with and it truly lights up the room.

But nothing says the holiday like some glitter and some sparkles. I just got my pedi with Essie's cranberry glitter infused nail polish and it truly gives ur toes that Christmassy feel. But Glitter is everywhere right now...eyeshadows, eyeliners, mascaras..even lipgloss and lipstick! And ofcourse your wardrobe and shoes. I have been playing a bit with glitter on my eye and it truly gives you that sparkly holiday look. So go for it..which ever one it is!

So gals, it's the holidays..have some fun with yourself. Dress up and go have a night out. You desrve it! You've worked very hard all year and I want to leave u all with this:

Continue to DREAM BIG
Continue to BELIEVE
Continue to HAVE FAITH
Continue to PERSEVERE
Continue to BE KIND
Continue to SMILE
And above all remember..ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

As aways, have fun and be creative! THIS IS FASHIONISTA NEWZ signing out for the year of 2013! SEE U IN 2014!!!!! XOXO

Sooo..what's for Christmas?

Ok u all,

You've got to forgive me for not blogging sooner. I got a bit carried away with my cousin's wedding, followed by Thanksgiving, followed by MY BIRTHDAYYYYY. So now I finally have the time to sit down and write, I'm thinking probably the same thing you're thinking....What's for Christmas? In terms of...WHAT GIFTS ARE GOIGN TO BE GIVEN THIS YEAR!!!!?? ahhh

Well gift giving should always come from the heart and you have got to know the person you're buying for otherwise they give away your gift with no hard feelings! So here's a few catergories I came up with to help simplify:

The Simple, Nostalgic Homebuddy:
These peeps wouldn't mind having the following gifts from you...
-a pajamas set (Victoria Secret got nice ones and sometime you get free bedroom slippers with you're purchase
-designer or artistic vases, paintings
-candles ( decorated and or scented)
-newest novels
-picture frames
- a dvd collection of a favorite tv show or movie series
- a journal
-new Christmas decorations

The Techy:
I would say the latest gagets or something you noticed they mayn't have momentarily...
- the ipad
-the ipad air
-the ipad mini
-Google Nexus 7 tablet
-Samsung Galaxy gear (it's a watch that acts like a phone and computer...Helloo Star Wars!)

The Girly girl:
This is a no brainer. Anything that's in style or a trend will do..
-newest perfume (check out Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Rihanna)
-newest cosmetics (Ulta and Clinique has bundles of eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner and lipstick in a cute box and package..all u need is wrapping paper and a bow)
-hottest shoes(GoJane and Makemechic has been running head to head on this lately)
-cutest clutch, handbag
-latest shades
-clothing, nail polish
-jewelry box or jewelry hanger
-accessories

The Entertainer:
This person loves to entertain peeps at their home and they will have an appreciation for the following....
-chic modern serving utensil and trays
-wine stoppers, rack and wine glasses
-gourmet products and recipe book ( for martinis, daiquiris and palatable food!!)
-latest kitchen gadget
-creative designed coasters
-board games...The Entertainer always has game night!
- designed throw pillows

The Partier:
- CD of latest songs
-party outfit, accessories, or cosmetics
-foldable flats...to wear after the party shoes start killing their feet

The Health Freak:
Neat little ideas for those who think carbs are the devil! lol
-free month pass to a gym or fitness center
-yoga/exercise clothing
-running sneakers
-dvd collection of various work outs
-health cook book
-gift card for a health store and or restaurant
-gourmet or fresh pressed cooking oil

Now if the person or persons seem to be a mixture of more than one of these, I say a VISA gift card would fulfill their Christmas desire.

As always, HAVE FUN and  BE CREATIVE. THIS IS FASHIONISTA NEWZ!

Camo-ver Here! Fall 2013

Hi Fashionistas!

It is a couple days away from Thanksgiving..an American holiday celebrated on the last thurs of the month of November. So before I forget, to my American peeps..HAPPY THANKGIVING!!!!

So the title of today's blog is quite simple and I hope you got it right? I'll be touching on the revival of Camo aka Camouflage. I clearly remember talking about this a short time ago but a short time may mean a year or 2 ago. Anywayz, this has no serious explanation other than it's back in style from clothing to accessories.

TIP- I really liked how  Cosmo mag let u know that red lips will go well with this print.

Maybe you have this print already in your closet. If u do, pull it out and wear it as if it's new. If u buy something, flaunt it either way! All in all whether u closet shop or not, Have fun and BE CREATIVE! This is FASHIONISTA NEWZ!

FASHIONISTA NEWZ pick of Top Affordable Powders

I can't believe how fast the months are flying. Before you know it, its Thanksgiving and then Christmas!!!! In Florida the weather has changed to give you a sense that fall is here and winter is coming. I have the windows open to receive the fab cool air of the morning.

As I enjoy the breeze and so excited about the upcoming season (maybe becuz my bday is around the corner too lol), I decided to let u guys know what my pick of top affordable Face Powders are. Now again, my disclaimer is- my picks, mayn't be urs and it's through some trial and error am I able to come up with these decisions.

CLINIQUE ($20.00)

I absolutely love this brand and love their stay-matte sheer pressed powder. I use this to set my liquid foundation and it truly helps in keeping the oil away. This lasts a very long time becuz u only need a couple dabs of it.

MAC ($24.00)
I will always love MAC becuz they're MAC! But their Studio Fix Powder gives full coverage and can be worn by itself without setting it. This also lasts a pretty long time. However, Acne Prone gals, try not to wear this everyday becuz the particles are so fine to merge with your skin to create a flawless look, it may be that easy to remove and cause break-outs.

BLACK OPAL ($7.00 - $12.00)

These two powders, the Oil Absorbing and the Creme to Powder are just as great as the Department store brands.

LANCOME ($38.00)

Heard great reviews on this and this is a well-known brand just as MAC. It gives you a smooth finish while mattifying ur face..hence DUAL FINISH. It's in my affordable list becuz compared to Chanel etc, this is a great buy.

NYC ($3.00)
This is an awesome setting powder. I use this translucent version on my clients and it gives such a smooth finish with no ashiness or white residue. If ur on a tight tight budget, then this will be your best friend!

Powders I've tried and were a NO-NO!
L'oreal True match powder- OMG wth is that? Or maybe it's my dark skin becuz this is a mess..there's no true match at all!

Neutrogena- why did I even bother with this...ashy!!!

Maybelline- I believe it's my skin colour becuz this did a poor job.

Milani- just ashy unfortunately

Powders I'll like to try
Iman
Nars
Makeup Forever
Inglot
Ben Nye

Be smooth and creative!!! This is FASHIONISTA NEWZ!

WATCH..it! Fall 2013

Hey there Fashionistas!

It's Nifty November already. In the US the time went back an hr so I was able to catch up on some much needed sleep!

So what's the next trend or trends this month? Well for sure skater skirts are still kicking around and those will look so swanky with stockings come Christmas time. Ok moving on...it's TIME to look out for MINI SKINNY WATCHES.

Cosmo Mag indcated that these watches aren't only skinny, in terms of the bands, but they also very colourful like neons or jeweled colours. This is an awesome idea to get away from the traditional gold, silver, browns, blacks and navys which helps add some colour to your winter-ish outfit.

You can also get a couple of them, turn the watch face inside and use them as coloured bracelets like the wrap-around ones that are hot on the market.

You can check your department stores for styles by COACH, FOSSIL, DKNY etc or you can catch them at your local mall boutiques.

Until next next time. Have Fun & Be Creative! THIS IS FASHIONISTA NEWZ!

FASHIONISTA NEWZ pick Top Affordable Mascaras

Hola Fashionistas!

This is another review according to my experience with Mascaras. My lashes are there but  not as long, thick n voluminous as Kim Kardashian..lol. I tend to look for mascaras that can fulfill all my needs in one or 2 sweeps of the product. Now, this doesn't mean  someone with thicker lashes can't use these products, it may just take one use to get the desired look.I also say affordable becuz $25 on a mascara is kinda ridic if I can find something for less with the same effect.

Now, I wonder..if the world wasn't so materialistic, would it matter that our eyelashes stand out or not? With all the new ideas of falsies aka false lashes, individual lash implants etc..who came up with the idea that fuller is better?? I truly believe it's what look you are going for or if you're just happy with your own lashes, then going to the extreme shouldn't be a thought...like wearing Mammoth size falsies that sweep past ur nose. Now u know dam well THAT IS NOT REAL!

Anywayz, here are my top affordable mascara pix:

CLINIQUE: ($16)
The best, best best bestest mascara everrrrrrrr!! All I can say is Clinique, is just phenomenal only becuz it's dermatologist recommended, lengthens, defines, not messy and it won 2013 BEST MASCARA award. It's just simply marvelous.

NYX: ($9)
This is a really great mascara where it gives volume and a very natural look.

L'OREAL DOUBLE EXTEND: ($8-$10)
My friend introduced me to this and I must say for those hardly-there lashes, this is a fab combo in 1. The white side helps add body and the blue side extends them, giving you luscious lashes.

I've discovered that for those who mayn't need the volume part can just use the blue side to extend, giving definition to your lashes.

MAYBELLINE: ($7-$10)

Whether it's the FALSIES, MEGA PLUSH etc type of mascara by Maybelline, they are pretty good. Depending on the brush which has it's own function of only volumizing or only lengthening, it's a good buy for everyday wear.

ELF: ($1)
This is the best go-to/ grab-n-go mascara to be left in your bag/purse only becuz it's very cheap yet captures just as great as the top mascara brands. There are times I'm rushing out the house, I forget to put on mascara and there's no mascara on me to try to put it on in the car. Soooo I decided to keep this in my bag and sure nuff it comes in handy.

There are other brands I've tried like Sephora which can be great but it's too messy or Avon but you have to go thru a distributor or Dior Show which was very expensive but dried out and didn't hold up as when it first was marketed.
I'll also will be trying Urban Decay but I'm totally sold on CLINIQUE!

If there's a mascara that works for you, let me know, would love to hear about it!

FASHIONISTA NEWZ pick of Top Affordable Foundations!

As a MUA (Make Up Artist) in training, I realize I'm not only leaning as to what looks great with one's complexion but also what is best for one's skin.

As an acne prone, sensitive yet combination skin person, I'm veryyyyy serious and picky when it comes to choosing the right foundation/ makeup that would give me the right coverage yet not break me out. The foundations I've posted here are the ones I've tried and have either worked for me or are still working.

Now when I say affordable, I mean the prices range from $12 to $40. Yes $40 is affordable because I realize the product lasts longer...so in actuality u do get more bang for ur buck with just a little that goes a long way. Some of these are drugstore brands and others are department store brands.

FOUNDATION is a type of cosmetic coverage that can be sheer or full and can be used by itself or under an application of face powder. Depending on the look you are trying to achieve, foundations come in matte and shimmer aka luminous formulas.

TIP- Oily and Combination skin should use shimmer foundations sparingly or use after applying a matte or oil absorbing face primer in the oil producing areas.

BLACK OPAL-
Drugstore brand that is hypoallergenic, SPF 15-20 and oil free. Comes in a stick, palette or liquid formula. Caters to all skin tones but works really well with dark skin gals giving a smooth finish without the ashy appearance! ($12-$20)...I'm a bit biased here cuz I freakin love this!

BOBBI BROWN
Department store brand that works really well with all skin types and tones. Abit pricey ($40+ ) but goes a lonnnnggg way in terms of shelf life and how long it stays on ur face with the same fresh appearance.
CLINIQUE
Department store brand.
Whether it's the acne or normal skin foundation, Clinique is truly dermatologist tested. I can testify that acne prone, combination and normal skin types can look fab while having ultimate skin repair with this line. Even though they are not organic, they have truly done their research in regards to health of the skin. In my books...hands down this is a NO.1 brand of cosmetics...however becuz I'm a bit anal, I alphabetically catergorized. ($20-$25)

ESTEE LAUDER
Department store brand.
This is for realz when it says 'stay in place' as it offers a seamless high end look.($36)

MAKE UP FOREVER
Department store brand.
This is freakin awesome FLAWLESS brand when it comes to merging with your skin and giving you the best appearance on camera. It was really made for the television anchors, personalities etc, who usually are under very high beam lights which may cause them to sweat and look super shiny. It mimics a waterproof formula so for those are in the sun all day, it doesn't run off that easily until it's time to wash it off.

However- combination, oily and acne prone sin types...go easy on this. Make sure to prep face 1st with an oil free matte finish primer (and a salicylic moisturizer for acne prone). ($40+)
MAC
Department store and solo brand.
If I didn't have acne-prone skin, MAC  would be my ultimate NO.1. I've used MAC cosmetics for over 10 yrs and they are King in this industry when it comes to making u look flawlessly the bomb. Top celebrities are spokes people for this brand and most times some of their sales go towards charity.

However- acne-prone, combination and oily use this sparingly and not daily. In order to create a flawless look, the particles of MAC foundations and powders must be tiny enough to enter pores and transform. Daily use of this may clog pores.($25+)

MAYBELLINE BB CREAM
Drugstore brand.
I was really skeptical when I first saw this. Not in the BB cream but in the brand becuz Maybelline cosmetics don't really do well for or with me. But i saw a review by Make Up Game On Point, and she said this is a great foundation-like cream for a natural look meaning no appearance of a foundation. Offers a sheer to medium coverage.
BB means Beauty Balm and this acts like a primer, a moisturizer, a concealer, a foundation and a tone corrector all in one. I've actually been using it daily and it works well. How did I match it? Well Make Up Game On Point has my skin colour so I took a chance and ordered the 2nd darkest...and it worked! ($8+).
NARS
Department store brand.
It's a pretty good brand of foundation that does what it is suppose to do. It has sheer to full coverage, depending on what u desire. ($44)
SMASH BOX BB CREAM
Department store brand. Again this mimics a foundation but has other benefits as well. Great reviews of this by Make Up Game On Point and this is the high-end version to Maybelline's BB cream. ($39)

FOUNDATIONS I'VE TRIED & THEY DIDN'T WORK:
Maybelline- it just didn't blend well with my skin tone
Neutrogena- suppose to be dermatologist recommended but ofcourse didnt have my shade. The one closest to my skin still had a pasty white residue
Milani- pasty and ashy but has a great smell as their foundations are named after nuts..the almond smelled great but didn't match
Laura Mercier- her line didnt even have colour my skin when I was inquiring

FOUNDATIONS I WANT TO TRY: Becuz I've always heard and read great reviews on them

Covergirl Queen Collection

Inglot

Ben Nye

BH COSMETICS...this is my brand right hurrr(here)...dam they r the bomb and so affordable!

Of course I can't persuade you in what type of foundation you should use, if you even need any at all. But these are the brands I have faith in. There are other top brand but they are super pricey...I think they have gold in them which is the reason they are super expensive.

As always, have fun and be creative! THIS IS FASHIONISTA NEWZ!
