Bigger is better for Fall 09

So I'm flipping through the pages of Cosmo September 2009 and the "Fun Fearless Fashion" page has in bold, big letters: GO BIG OR GO HOME which the visually showed that the jewelry trend for fall '09 is the return of big, chunky pieces. From large jeweled earring to huge speckled stoned rings, the focus this season is not so much the clothes but how you accessorize it. Now, I dont mean to be chunky everywhere with huge earrings, necklaces, bangles and rings but you can either do one or two pieces...but do not over do it to the point that you look like a walking jewelry store. If your wearing a solid color such as black, midnight blue, deep purple or emerald green, choose silver, gold or jeweled toned colors such as turqouise accessories. For colourful or light coloured clothing, wear fun coloured items but try to accessories using 1 colour...again, you do not want to look like a human christmas tree; everything is in moderation.

Hope you have fun with your new pieces but if you don't have the extra spending money, ask grandma to borrow her antique brooches, rings and earrings and improvise! This is Fashionista Newz!

Fall 2009 fashion nail colours

Ok fellow Fashionistas...the summer has flown by as fast as lightening strikes...where did those hot months go? I hope you all got to enjoy the outside by either going to the beach, a pool party or an outdoor event and as September rolls in, the weather will be cooler and fall has definitely arrived. So what does that mean??? Holiday on September 7th? yesss. No wearing white after labor day? sureee. But we fashionistas know that our nail colour changes with the season. A couple of months ago we took advantage of the sunny, hot days and neonized our fingers and toes with the brightest of colours. Now, the nail lacquers for fall into winter 09 are out. So put away your daisy yellows, ocean blues and candy pinks and start collecting the following: dark orange, gray, blue-black, mauve, browns and dark pinks...yes girls..I said gray. I do suggest that dark colours should be experimented doing french tips..like having the dark colour as the base and use the french on the tips..try it, you might actually like. Enjoy and live it up girls! This is Fashionista Newz!

Buzz-cuts r in the air!

So how daring would you be to get rid of all your hair or most of it? See women are known for their hair as part of their beauty and if they don't have hair, they were stereotyped to be weird or lesbian. That's the thing....it's stereotypical. What about the survivors of cancer who are now able to regrow their hair while in remission, they would have short to bald hairstyles. What about models whose hair have been shaved or cut to bring more attention to their faces, their high cheekbones, their bright eyes or exuberant smile? They too wil sport the buzz-worthiness of short or no hair.

Well Solange beared it all by taking an ultra-low buzz cut this week. She shared on twitter that she was not making a fashion statement but, "I just wanted to be free from the bondage that black women sometimes put on themselves with hair." Rihanna on the other hand has taken her asymmetrical haircut to another level by buzzing all around except for the top portion to make her statement that she is ever-changing. But at the end of the day HAIR IS HAIR & IT WILL GROW BACK. So good luck to those fashionistas who have taken the bob and pixie cut to a whole other level. This is Fashionista Newz!

Follow-up of The fashion Show...Anna's the winner!

Hailing from Atlanta, GA, Anna was crowned the top designer of The Fashion Show on Thursday 30th July, '09. Quite humble about her winning, she shared her start of launching a knitwear line right after graduating Fashion School and later designing clothing for tv personalities and stars. Even though before the competition she teached Fashion Merchandising at a small college in New York, with her unique designs and use of bright colours, she will be alble to launch another line or lines with the prizes from the Fahsion Show. Good Luck Anna! May we see your clothing soon! This is Fashionista News!
