With all the festivities of the season, I know everyone is quite busy (including me ) and I hope everyone had a safe Christmas.
This is my 1st time I am introducing the re-capping of trends for 2012 because most editorial or media platforms do such to show what's in and what's out, what was liked, what flopped, what was exotic and what was nauseating. I'm not gonna touch on the nauseating trends but the ones that hit the runway and mainstream as fast as the speed of light.
JANUARY & FEBRUARY- From the 60's to the 80's
The re-introduction of super thick eyeliner by Adele made this look very popular. It gave eyes that vintage 60's look of Twiggy or Audrey Hepburn. Then, it wasn't just the trend of coloured items but Electric coloured things like neon bright blue, yellow or green jeans, neon and glow in the dark nail polishes and eyeliners.
Next there was the fringe-craze. Everything from purses, shoes, swimsuits had fringes. Name it and you'd see numerous strings hanging from either an accessory or a piece of clothing. Right after were lots of Tribal Prints. This is still in and I admit, I got me a pair of mary-jane tribal print wedges.
MARCH & APRIL- Mixture of patterns & prints
These Spring months brought on an influx of prints that were worn by themselves or mixed such a floral, striped/nautical, eyelets & crochets. Shoes had a new-age version of pointy-tip stilletos, strappy heels, peep-toe pumps. Then my favorite just added the topping to my ice-cream- coloured blazers! Love love love this look because it gave colour blocking a different assembly other than compiled on a dress but it was a coloured jacket with a coloured top, coloured pants and shoes. It broke up the blocking in a way that wasn't too much for the eyes.
MAY, JUNE, JULY- Creative Pieces
I really liked the asymmetrical cut/mullet dresses that surfaced. I actually wore one for my birthday in December but that was a combination of other cuts which I loved. Then some whimsical prints started surfacing...not the normal animal prints but other objects around. It reminded me of my clothes when I was a child-prints with ice cream cones, fruits, actual animals, lipstick etc. Then July showcased the swimsuit edition according to your body type. I stressed that becuz NOT EVERYTHING IS MADE TO BE WORN BY EVERYONE!
AUGUST & SEPTEMBER- Purple, Popping, Pointed &Peplum
August introduced the trend for Fall 2012. It started with the onset of Purple. Purple was everywhere in everyshade. Then in cosmetics popping colours were Fall's trend- a lot of cobalt eyeshadows, bright pink, orange lips and cheeks. Pointed tip wedges surfaces in which I got me a pair and Peplum was just as rampant as purple...from skirts to tops to shorts. I also obtained a peplum styled dress.
OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER- Plaids, Galactical, Shiny
October prepped the winter 2012 season which trickled other hawt ideas. Plaids always come and go but what I loved this season was the focus on Shiny 'out-of-space' materials, embellishments of studs and sequins. My birthday dress I bought was a combination of this years trend of asymemtrical cut, with cut-out sides, sequins in cobalt..wooo..aint that the bomb!
2012 had a lot of exciting trends that I absolutely enjoyed. I must say I got hooked on the embellishment and sequins materials and I did splurge. But in all the greatness of shopping, I hope you all are ready for a brand new year. If you go with the mindset that it's just another year then you have nothing to look fwd to. But if you BELIEVE that GREAT THINGS are about to happen..then to you I salute you for your continued faith, hope and perseverance. I wish everyone of you a HAPPY, PROSPEROUS & BRIGHT 2013!
As always, have fun and be creative. THIS IS FASHIONISTA NEWZ!
