My Jennifer Bradley Makeup Course review- July 2014

Hi Fashionistas!

Some of you all may know that I've taken a leap of faith to explore my passion in fashion with 1 specialization in makeup artistry. I always look for courses I can take to learn this art as cosmetology school is a bit expensive for me momentarily (my school loans smh!). I was fortunate to learn some skills from Ms. Pinky, a well known Trini makeup artist and today 7-15-14, I had the opp to do a course with Jennifer Bradley cosmetics (www.jenniferbradley.com)

Jennifer Bradley is an actress, model, singer and commedienne who has been in the makeup industry for 20 years, created her own skincare and cosmetics line and has worked  for President Barack Obama, Pamela Anderson, Sharon Osbourne, Eva Longoria etc

The course focused on makeup 101 with the inclusion of lash application and I was taught by 1 of Jennifer's makeup artists, Dianna (owner of DD Makeup Artistry). A basic natural look was applied and then slightly vamped up with a smokey effect. Started off with an amazing moisturizer and then the 4 in 1 foundation was applied. I love the foundation! It is sooooo soft, full coverage and gives an airbrush, natural look. Learned a great technique for eyebrows; then contours, eyeshadows and blush! I think the best part was putting on lashes that looked sooooo natural, I couldn't believe I had it on. Everything was from the Jennifer Bradley product line.

I truly didn't want to wash this look off. It was amazing, felt amazing...so light...so flawless. I truly felt like a movie star after! To make it even more fab...I got a goodie bag with a lip gloss and the lashes can be worn up to 8 times!!! Oh yay! What a blessing!

Dianna is a local makeup artist who specializes in bridal, special events, production and boudoir makeup! Check her out, she's soooo fab! https://www.facebook.com/dianna.pantalena?fref=ts

In the shade- Summer 2014

Can you feel the heat??

Not the Miami Heat...just the regular summer heat. Well I don't know about you all but Florida is pretty hot these days and while it may be a great opp to get some extra vitamin D, we must always take precaution by wearing sun screeen and.....some FABULOUS SHADES!!!!

This summer, shades aren't just your typical blacks and browns but more about colour..neons, floral and clear. Ofcourse the shapes have taken a new design as cat-eyes and wayfarers are a bit more edgier than usual.

So take a look below and why not get a few. I know I have a lot of shades..but that's just me..I'm a fashionista!

TIP- to get the right shades for the shape of your face, stop in a local pharmacy or eye place and just ask what shape of shades will go well with my face! I know for long/oval faces (like me) avaiators, cat-eyes and rectangular wayfarers work well.

You can find these at any clothing store like the few I've listed below. As always, have fun and be creative. THIS  IS FASHIONISTA NEWZ!

Pretty combination in line for the summer especially. Take a look below for some ideas and your viewing pleasure!

Review of Miami International Fashion Week 2014

When 2014 started, I made up my mind to say YES to a lot of things I said no to or never thought of doing. Well one was to attend a real fashion show and I happened to stumble on the fact that Miami International Fashion Week (MIFW) was right around the corner. Sooo I quickly bought a ticket that gave me access to the shows rather than the pop up boutiques.

It was on Saturday May 17th (2014) at the Miami Beach Convention Center and the black carpet set up was really  nice. As soon as you walked in, you felt like you were at a fashion show. Ofcourse I thought I had VIP after paying $75US for the ticket but it wasn't and I had to stand in line. The show did not start promptly at 5:30pm as we were still lined up outside. When I finally got inside, there were volunteers to direct you to your seat. The great thing was, we were informed if all seats are not taken, you can move down and fill up the front seats! Oh yeah! And so I did.

There were 4 shows mainly with Hispanic designers (but I stayed for 2 becuz I was hungry..could wait especially as they started late!):
1. Evening wear showcase feat. designers- Fadila Kihel, Magnolia, Teresa Rosati/ Olga Bolanos
     - definitely loved designs by Magnolia

The designers of Magnolia and 1 is preggo..how cute!!!

2. Argentina showcase- I didn't take pix for this one becuz I was just running on fumes by now..a little light headed. But their designs were very CULTURAL...meaning a lot of crocheted, tribal  and eclectic designs for prints and accessories. Very colourful. I googled a few designers:

Agostina Bianci

Cuatro Colorado

Emprendedores de Nuestra Tierra

Mariana Castro

3rd & 4th shows were an Italy and Swimwear showcase.

All in all I had a great experience even though I didn't know any of the designers. Next time I'll eat heavy in advance and stay for all the shows lol.

Who knows...I may become a designer! THIS IS FASHIONISTA NEWZ!
